Thursday Jan. 14 - Another amazing confirmation
Our first full day here in the Philippines began with devotions using a soft back version of Chambers, ‘My Utmost for His Highest’. I’ve use this material before and its always beneficial. This particular copy belonged to my (Dan) mother until she went to be with our Lord this past August. She had often commented that she enjoyed how God is using us and she lived missions though our experiences. We understood this connection as she often told us how she had felt God’s call on her life as a teen but her father would not hear of it. So it felt right to bring this along on this assignment.
Well, here it is the first day and God is already using it to confirm so many things.
The reference is Isaiah 6:8, the point being that all are called. God’s call in this verse was not directed toward Isaiah, it was and is still open to all who will respond. This call to serve is for all of us and it doesn’t necessary lead to ‘going’ but to do what is needed based on His leadership through the relationship we have with our Lord.
We are so privileged to receive this assurance of His direction yet I am also reminded how Mom responded when Life’s circumstances prevented her from ‘going’. She lived her devotion to God and her growth, availability and effectiveness as a prayer warrior was proven over and over again. God only knows how many Christians (and family members) have been sheltered by her prayers.
Father God, may we also live in response to your Love and Call as we honor those who have led the way for us. Amen.
