This has never been an objective of ours but who are we to argue with God. In fact we have not even considered it, but as we moved through the fall this past year, He presented again for the 4th year in a row, a need to serve a portion of the St Louis winter in a warmer climate. This time it is the longest assignment yet, 90 days...
Here's how it came about. As we do on any NYI or Missions trip, we enjoy meeting the wonderful Christian brothers and sisters of the area, and where possible the missionaries serving there. Well, while we were in Manila this past fall, the Field Strategy Coordinator, David Philipps, after learning of our life skills (professional back grounds), decided we should meet the staff of the APRC (Asia Pacific Resource Center) that just happens to the housed in the APNTS (Asia Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary) compound. He admitted later there was a plan to this meeting. You see, the missionary in charge of the APRC, Eric Zane, was leaving with his family for 6 months of home assignment. One of the primary roles of the center is the support of the Nazarene Online Accounting program (NOA). Well, with my IT management background and Janet's Accounting knowledge, we are now going to help fill the gap for 3 months, mid-January through mid-April.
We leave next week and I have to admit that I am not going to miss the weather here. As for the assignment, it looks interesting and we are looking forward to what God has in store not just for us but the awesome staff we will be working with.
What next 'Papa'?
Blessings on your journey over there! And I'll be keeping up with the blog!
