Christmas Letter 2010

December 2010

Dear Friends and Family,

Merry Christmas!!

We’re so grateful for another full and rich year! We love living in the metro St. Louis area!

Dan continues to represent the Nazarene Youth International (NYI) as Global Bible Quiz Trainer and is leading a small group from our church in a interesting book study. Janet still enjoys working at JoyFM (go to www.joyfmonline.org to listen) and we both enjoy the “percs” of Christian music radio – Christian concerts and terrific co-workers. Dan spends a fair amount of time volunteering his computer skills there as well!

As participants in Mission Corps (Nazarene volunteer missions), we were privileged to serve in Manila, Philippines for 3 months (mid-January – mid-April). We worked on the campus of Asia Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary – Dan in the computer center and Janet with the regional accounting staff. We lived in a house in a nearby community and made some life-long Filipino and missionary friends. We got to eat fresh mangos every day and lots of other wonderful foods! What an awesome experience! If you care to read more details, please see our blog – http://reinhartsroad.blogspot.com/.

Back in the States, we helped staff numerous Bible quizzes, including the national tournament in July at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University. In June, Dan did Bible Quiz training in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras! Also in July, Janet was chosen as Juror #13 (didn’t get to participate in the verdict) in a Federal Court trial – SO interesting! Later that month, it was fun to give Monica a break as Caitlyn (10) and Dylan (8) visited us for a week. Dan took them to the St. Louis Zoo and we toured the Fitz’s root beer plant. Erica joined us for a day at historic Fort Chartres, along the Mississippi River, a little south of where we live. We caught 1 show (Titanic) at The Muny this summer, and saw Wicked at the Fox Theatre (we love to go to musical theatre, since that’s where we met!)!

In August, we participated in a Caribbean youth convention in Jamaica, and stayed a few days extra to enjoy Montego Bay beaches after the event – SO fun!

In November, Janet’s doctor surgically removed a cyst found during a routine exam. It was benign and she’s healed quite nicely! We spent Thanksgiving at Monica’s and even participated in a 1-mile Turkey Trot. We see Erica often, as she’s the one who lives closest – she keeps busy with her cooking job at a senior living facility and with her cat Phantom. We have fun together, especially when we cook!

Over all, again this year, we have found that Dan’s “retirement” and Janet’s part-time work are not any sort of “kicking back and taking it easy.” But we would not want it any other way. We are blessed!

Please let us hear from you! We thank God for our friends and enjoy hearing about what you’re up to! We’re having lots of fun connecting with friends on Facebook and love to get e-mail as well as “snail mail.”

We pray for God’s blessings and direction in our lives and yours for the year ahead!

Love,
Dan & Janet
